Craniometric analysis evaluates the geometric relationships between key facial landmarks: the Trichion (hairline), Nasion (bridge of nose), Bizygomatic width (cheekbone distance), Bigonial width (jawline width), and Gnathion (lowest point of chin).

  • Oval Face Shape: Length-to-width ratio is approximately 1.4 to 1.5. Cheekbones are slightly wider than forehead and jawline, with a soft, gently rounded chin. Considered the baseline versatile shape.
  • Round Face Shape: Length-to-width ratio is close to 1.0 to 1.15. Cheekbones and face length are almost equal in size, with soft rounded angles and a curved jawline.
  • Square Face Shape: Length-to-width ratio is 1.0 to 1.25. Forehead, cheekbones, and jawline are equal in width, characterized by a strong, sharp, angular gonial jaw angle.
  • Heart Face Shape: Forehead is the widest feature, tapering down to high cheekbones and a narrow, pointed V-shape chin.
  • Diamond Face Shape: Cheekbones are the prominent widest point, with a narrow forehead and narrow pointed chin.
  • Oblong / Rectangle Face Shape: Length-to-width ratio is greater than 1.55. Long, narrow face structure with equal forehead and jaw widths.
  • Pear / Triangle Face Shape: Jawline is the widest point, tapering up to narrower cheekbones and a narrow forehead.

3. How to Measure Your Face Accurately at Home

  1. Use a flexible tape measure or ruler while looking straight into a mirror.
  2. Forehead Width: Measure across the widest part of your forehead, from hairline to hairline above the eyebrows.
  3. Cheekbone Width: Measure across the peak of your cheekbones, from outer corner of one eye to the other.
  4. Jawline Width: Measure from the base of your jaw under your ear to the tip of your chin, then multiply by 2.
  5. Face Length: Measure vertically from the center of your top hairline (Trichion) down to the bottom tip of your chin (Gnathion).
