Editorial and Data Quality Policy

How we document calculations, review source data, disclose automation and correct errors.

Purpose and scope

Macro & Meals publishes educational calculators and restaurant nutrition tools. Results are estimates and are not medical diagnosis, treatment or individualized dietary advice.

Authorship and review

Pages are published by the Macro & Meals Editorial Team. We do not claim licensed-clinician or academic review unless the named reviewer and credential can be independently verified. Health-sensitive pages should identify the formula, intended population, assumptions, limitations and primary source.

Data provenance

Restaurant values should be traceable to an official restaurant nutrition document or another clearly identified source. Each verified dataset should record the source URL, publisher, market, serving size, retrieval date, verification date and reviewer. Missing values must remain unknown and must not be represented as zero.

Automation and AI

Automation may assist formatting, validation, summarization and page generation. It must not be used to invent sources, credentials, nutrition values or medical claims. Automated output is subject to deterministic checks and human review appropriate to its risk.

Corrections

Material errors are corrected at the source-data level and the affected pages are rebuilt. Pages with values that cannot be safely calculated may be marked as under review and excluded from search indexing. To report an error, include the page, item, expected value and supporting source through the contact page.

Funding, advertising and conflicts

The site may be funded by advertising. Advertisements do not determine calculator outputs or editorial conclusions and must be visually separated from tools and guidance. Health-related inputs and inferred health interests must not be used for personalized advertising.

Review dates

A visible reviewed date should change only after a substantive formula, source, safety or data review. Build dates are not editorial review dates.
